Wendy,
Thanks for stopping by! As for your questions: On this site I simply list charity raffles for free and I don't run or really have anything to do with the management of them. You ask some good questions however. The price of tickets and length of the raffle is going to depend on the situation of the organization, the demographics of your potential ticket customers and the cost of your raffle prize. Typically it seems that most org's will have the Harley prize before starting the raffle...either they will get it donated or have an arrangement with a local Harley Dealer. What some org's will do is have a stipulation that if X numbers of tickets are not sold (ie. not enough tickets are sold to cover the cost of the motorcycle) then the raffle reverts to a 50/50 cash raffle. If you are thinking about running a raffle I'd suggest three things. First find an organization in your area that has already done one and see if they will offer you some advice or contacts. Secondly get an attorney involved right away due to the raffle laws and possible liability. Thirdly visit TheRaffleSite.com for some tips on raffle advertising. Hope the above helps and feel free to shoot me an email with any questions. I'm not expert on running a raffle but I'm happy to help you out any way I can. Best of luck and keep in touch!
Sincerely,

How do these raffles work? how many tickets do people usually sell from this website? How long a period are tickets available? Is it better to have more tickets at a lower price, or fewer tickets at a higher price? Do you purchase the harley prior to the drawing - what happens if you don't make enough to purchase the Harley?

and purchased a ticket. I can't wait to see the 2010s.
