2013 Harley-Davidson Street Glide

The mission of the Blue Hills Fire Department to provide for the protection of the lives and property of the residents and those who work in or visit the Blue Hills Fire District in the Town of Bloomfield, from the dangers associated with fires, life threatening emergencies, hazardous chemical releases, accidents and natural disasters.

The Town of Bloomfield is centrally located in Hartford County, Connecticut. The town consists of approximately 24.6 square miles of mixed commercial and residential development with areas of open land. Bloomfield is home to a population of approximately 20,000 residents. The Blue Hills Fire Department protects the approximate eastern one-third of the Town. The Blue Hills Fire Department (BHFD) provides fire prevention, suppression and rescue service to the residents of the Town of Bloomfield and assists in neighboring communities. The Blue Hills Fire Department is a combination department (both volunteer and paid staffing) founded in 1926.

Fire suppression, rescue and other emergency service work is conducted not by individuals, but by teams. Each team is dependent upon the others, not only to accomplish the specific task at hand, but to ensure that all operations are conducted safely. This “safe conduct” refers to both the safety of the public we serve, and to our fellow team members.
