2011 Heritage Softail Classic

Raffle Benefits

The Willmar Curling Club is back again with another Harley Raffle! From the club… “We legally” formed a non-profit amateur sports organization dedicated to the sport of curling in the Spring of 2005 and received our 501C(3) status summer of 2008. We elected our first Board of Directors that same spring.

Our goal is to one day have a dedicated curling facility with better than 200 members that can enjoy the many privileges that other curling clubs across the country enjoy. Privileges like choosing from a number of leagues to play in, participating and hosting bonspiels, an active juniors program involving the local schools and colleges, and the opportunities to compete at the state, national or even world level .

We have doubled in size each year during our first three seasons of curling to a membership of about 90 people as of the Spring of 2009. We instruct all of the high school students in the sport of curling and we have a new Junior Curling program going, now in it’s second year.

Our primary function is to organize and facilitate all of the local curling activities including; adult league(photos), high school P.E., junior curling(photos), and the Community Ed. and Rec. open curling. We staff these events and provide the necessary instruction and coaching for new curlers. We actively promote curling in the area, and have an annual open house and banquet to start and finish each season.

We also help promote curling throughout the region when ever possible. Club members and equipment have helped with open houses in Alexandria, Brainerd and Litchfield; of which Alexandria has the new Vikingland Curling Club and Brainerd is now forming the Brainerd Lakes Area Curling Club.
