Raffle Benefits

The Children’s Hospital at Providence, Alaska: The Providence Health Systemhas a long history of serving Alaska, beginning when the Sisters of Providence first brought health care to Nome in 1902 during the Gold Rush. This pioneering spirit set the standard for modern health care in Alaska and formed the foundation for Providence’s growth as the state’s leading health care provider.

Today, Providence serves Alaskans in five communities – Anchorage, Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Kodiak Island, Seward, and Valdez. Providence Health & Services Alaska is the state’s largest private employer with more than 4,000 full and part-time employees working for the organization statewide.

In partnership with physicians and health care providers throughout the state, we provide a lifetime of care for Alaskans of all ages, as do our sister institutions and facilities in Washington, Oregon, California, and Montana.

Unique Machine of Alaska in conjunction with Orange County Choppers, had a special chopper built to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Alaskan Statehood. The bike will be on display at the Dena’ina Center beginning January 2, 2009.

After unveiling the chopper to the public at the Statehood Celebration, Unique Machine will display the bike at various locations throughout Alaska. A drawing for the one-of a-a-kind chopper will be held on or about March 28, 2009. Tickets for the drawing will be sold at $100 each and sales will begin January 2nd at the 50th Anniversary Gala being held at the Dena’ina Center. On behalf of the employees at Unique Machine, 50% of the proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to The Children’s Hospital at Providence.

OCC was in Alaska in mid December to film for their television show, American Choppers. The episode for the 50th Anniversary Statehood Chopper is scheduled to air in March 2009.

  1. this bike reminds me of Bike in the movie “Ghost Rider” …

  2. Never saw it that way..you’re right. Sweet little bike!

  3. This article was written prior to some changes being made on this raffle.
Due to the strict regulations regarding raffles in the State of Alaska, a few things have been changed.
The drawing will now take place on September 11th, at the Children’s Hospital, which makes the 11th Birthday of the Children’s Hospital at Providence.
None of the purchase price is tax deductable, sorry, but it does go to a great cause.
We won’t sell any more than 10,000 tickets, and considering that there are 280,000+ people in Anchorage alone, those aren’t bad odds.
We are trying to get the bike at various venues across the state to be able to celebrate the 50th Anniversary, as well as sell as many tickets as possible.
For more info on the bike, or to purchase a ticket, please see the UML website.

    Thanks,
    Dana Dozark
