On July 2nd Lisa suffered a grand mal seizure at 5:00 AM. Paul called 911 and Lisa was transported to Kaiser hospital. A CT scan revealed a large left frontal lobe brain tumor. She was given seizure medication and released. She was also “released” from her driving privileges! An appointment was scheduled with a neuro surgeon the next week. On July 27th Lisa was wheeled into the operating room for a biopsy. Four and a half hours later Lisa emerged with a completed biopsy and a bonus – thirty-seven staples and a craniotomy. A craniotomy is a surgical operation in which part of the skull, called a bone flap, is removed to access the brain. The surgeon was only able to remove ten to twenty percent of the tumor due to the size and location of the tumor and potential permanent nerve damage. Initially, Lisa was advised that she would receive a diagnosis in five days, but it took over two weeks to get the results. On August sixth, Lisa was advised that she has stage three brain cancer: Anaplastic Astrocytoma. That is cancer of the neurons and cells.

Born and raised in Sonoma County, Lisa is not new to the hospital scene. Some of the same doctors that are treating Lisa, treated her Mother who suffered from MS for over 20 years. Lisa, her Father, Brother and twin sister Anita all helped Mom through the tough, painful years of watching her eventually lose her life 6 years ago. Lisa, herself is faced with months of expensive medical procedures. Her family needs help and support from all of us to assist in her financial crisis. Please help us raise money for the medical cost associated with this traumatic disease. Thank you so much!
